Hand spun

now looking like

real yarn!

Today I've dried my yarn and wound it into 2 small balls. I am going to turn it into something useful but I'm not sure what as yet - maybe a phone cover or a mug hug - there's not enough for anything more substantial yet.

I've also started on the business with a vengeance. The company is in the process of being registered at companies house, I'm applying for a business bank account and doing market research - as well as knitting furiously, and writing my business plan - so much to do, but it's really exciting!

Here's how you can help. I want to know which of these you would be attracted to:

  1. Hand knitted items
  2. Hand spun yarn (what type appeals most)
  3. Knitting accessories (needles, bags storage)
  4. Knitting patterns
  5. Knitting kits
  6. All of the above.
I'm going to offer an incentive for your responses. Send your comments by email to knatters.knits (at) gmail.com by 30th April 2012 and you will be entered in a draw to win this adorable shawlette. Please make sure you enclose your postal address and a detailed response to the request for information above. Good luck!

Plying, Spindles and Niddy Noddys

Plying, Spindles and Niddy Noddys

I've had THE most amazing day today.  I attended a course on spinning run by Gwenda at Handspun Design. The day seemed to whizz by! At the end of the session I had managed to spin a whole 100g of yarn. OK, so it wasn't of a quality I could sell, and it is going to take me a lot of practice to achieve that sort of quality, but the whole experience was so therapeutic and relaxing and satisfying all at the same time.

The picture above is the very handspun, soaking to remove the dirt. At this point it needs washing and drying and then  I will knit it into something to remind me of the great day I had today -and  thanks again go to Gwenda for a superb day to remember!

Knatters Knits is finally on its way as a business. I'm really excited to be selling hand-knits, patterns, hand-spun yarn and knitting accessories. I am planning on attending craft fairs and to have an online store. I welcome feedback, so please do contact me either about this blog or my products.
